The UNC-S series is the Voss standard uncoiler. These are simple, robust designs that suit the individual needs of the machinery they are sold with.
All UNC-S uncoilers are loop controlled, with either a DC motor using a dancer arm-controlled potentiometer or electrically controlled with a touchless sensor, to regulate the uncoiling speed. Diameter sensing can also be added to sense the use on coils that are larger in diameter. Some are equipped with tight web sensing, whereas the uncoiler will send an e-stop signal to the machine to stop the process once a tight web is sensed. All have variable arbor options depending on the size and weight of the coil. Voss arbors include;
- Expandable Aluminum Arbor – available in two sizes, 75mm and 100mm, and with extensions cover a range up to 300mm in core ID diameter.
- Linkage Type Arbor – used for the larger ID coils. This uses a linkage assembly to expand the outer shoes to the ID of the Coil. This is a much heavier duty arbor assembly and is used for coil ID’s of 300mm to 400mm.
- Cone Style – these are simple cones that fit into the ends of the Material Core. They are very flexible and are usually used on core ID’s of 150mm and less. They consist of two cones that wedge themselves into the core id.
- Hub Type – these arbors are ones made for a specific core ID. Therefore, if the core is a 200mm ID, the Hub would be just under 200mm and slip into the core. These are useful when the ID is always the same size, can be made special to any diameter, often simplify the setup of the uncoiler.
Voss offers a variety of speed options, starting with slow speed (standard), about 10m/min up to high speed (HS) of 100m/min. On our FM-135, FM-235, FM-235-SW machines, standard (slow speed) uncoilers are used. On our RF-220 machines high speed (HS) uncoilers are used. The weight of coil stock the uncoiler can handle ranges from 200kg (standard uncoiler) up to 400kg (heavy duty (HD) uncoiler). The OD options are available from 750mm up to 1m and the width options are available from 150mm up to 300mm. Wheels are also available to allow for movement of the uncoiler around the shop.
